7TH MARCH 2022

2022 Season – On Sale Now

Welcome to our 2022 Season.

3 incredible concerts. 3 incredible soloists. Make history with us in 2022.

From Our Artistic Director

This is a groundbreaking year for Steel City Strings. I’m proud to present three incredible programs with three esteemed soloists that will be performed all across our region – from Berry to Burrawang, Wollongong to Kiama. It’s also a year in which we continue to champion new Australian music and contemporary works, as well as performing the music many know, love, and expect from their chamber ensemble. In returning to the concert hall this year, you’ll be supporting young musicians and local artists to tell our stories such as in Natalie Williams’ newly commissioned work that will honour the Jobs for Women campaign in the 80s and 90s at the Port Kembla Steelworks. We also will perform with celebrated soloists such as Claire Edwardes (Ensemble Offspring), Emily Sun (ABC YPA 2018 Winner) and William Barton.

Steel City Strings invites you to make history with us in 2022.

In Debussy's Sacred and Profane Dances of 1904 the orchestra was joined by harpist Paulina Smirnov whose scintillating playing created a wonderful and subtly-nuanced centrepiece for the concert.

A fascinating program of works from various musical periods... The orchestra played with a strong sense of ensemble, and brought an infectious verve to the Mozart.
