Tell us about yourself, when did your musical journey begin and what initially sparked your interest in music?

“I’ve always been singing since I can remember. I began serious singing training when I was 11 years old and have been working on my craft ever since.”

Who gave you your first instrument or performance opportunity? How did you enjoy your first time in the performance limelight?

“My first performance highlight was getting a short solo in my school choir in the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. I remember feeling so happy after I got the solo and loved the adrenaline when performing it. I still hold that song close to my heart.”

Where are you at right now with your musical journey?

“I currently am collaborating with producers to build up a portfolio of demos and soon hope to release some of my original work. I also am currently in the last phase of the Talent Development Project and will soon graduate.”

Where do you see yourself in the future playing music? Do you have a dream performance venue or orchestra to play with in the future, or are you just simply enjoying the moment and seeing where music takes you?!

“My dream venue would be a sold out arena. I can’t wait to see where music takes me and I hope to make it my career.”

Who is your favourite artist that plays your instrument and why?

“A few of my favourite artists are H.E.R – her songwriting and craftsmanship is amazing. I also love Ariana Grande because of her amazing use of harmonies.”

Tell us about what you will be performing with Steel City Strings. Is your piece significant to you on a personal or musical level? What drew you to performing this music with Steel City Strings?

“I will be performing Never Enough and Speechless. Both are from musical movies which I have always loved. Although musical theatre isn’t the path I want to go down these songs are big powerful numbers which I love.”

The members of Steel City Strings are outstanding examples of hard work, enterprise, enthusiasm and dedication. They reach for the stars and beyond. More power to these wonderful people.

Richard Gill AO

In Debussy's Sacred and Profane Dances of 1904 the orchestra was joined by harpist Paulina Smirnov whose scintillating playing created a wonderful and subtly-nuanced centrepiece for the concert.

A fascinating program of works from various musical periods... The orchestra played with a strong sense of ensemble, and brought an infectious verve to the Mozart.
