What's in store

Steel City Strings open this performance with Grieg’s delightful Holberg Suite Op 40.

The orchestra will then be joined by Wollongong-based chamber choir, con voci  (directed by Pamela Mildenhall) and vocal soloists in a program celebrating the voice with two choral favourites .

  • Schubert's charming Mass in G major has remained popular with audiences since its composition in 1815. The sheer beauty of its choral writing makes the transition from a Viennese parish church to the world's concert stages unsurprising. Featuring

Susie Bishop – soprano

Daniel Tambasco – tenor

Jared Lillehagen – bass

  • Similarly engaging is Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine, which shares with his famous Requiem a delight in sinuous melodic writing underpinned by rich harmonic textures.

Also, expect some musical hijinks when con voci present a solo group of a cappella songs that will amuse the mind and delight the ear.
