Jared Lillehagen – Steel City Strings guest soloist

​Jared Lillehagen is an Operatic Baritone, proficient in Italian, French, and German diction.

​​​Jared Lillehagen’s training

Jared Lillehagen studied a Bachelor of Music Performance and an Advanced Diploma of Opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Dr Michael Halliwell and Anke Hoepner.

​He has been a finalist for some of Australia’s most prestigious eisteddfods and singing competitions including

  • Sydney Eisteddfod
  • Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Awards, and
  • The German Australian Opera Grant.

Jared graduated in 2013.

Jared’s performing experience

Since graduating, Jared has performed vast and varied roles from Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro) to Harašta (The Cunning Little Vixen) taking on roles with

  • Opera Australia
  • Sydney Chamber Opera
  • Opera Hunter
  • Opera New England
  • Pacific Opera

Per­forming extensively as an oratorio soloist, Jared has appeared with

  • Willoughby Symphony Orchestra
  • Sydney University Graduate Choir
  • Penrith Symphony Orchestra
  • Syd­ney Conservatorium Choirs

He has also performed with the Opera Australia Chorus in Puccini’s Turandot and Bizet’s Carmen.

Jared’s stage experience includes Count Almaviva and Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Morales in Carmen, Harasta and Parson in The Cunning Little Vixen to name a few.

​During 2016 and 2017 Jared toured full time with Opera Australia’s NSW schools program.

In 2018 he re-joined the Opera Australia Chorus.

Jared continues to perform regularly as a recitalist and concert soloist.

In Debussy's Sacred and Profane Dances of 1904 the orchestra was joined by harpist Paulina Smirnov whose scintillating playing created a wonderful and subtly-nuanced centrepiece for the concert.
