A Message from Manager, Jeremy Boulton

Dear Supporters and Subscribers,

As you would be aware, Steel City Strings has been extremely active throughout venue shutdowns and gatherings restrictions.

We’re pressing ahead with both our live and digital performances for the remainder of 2020 to ensure we reach of our audience; whether they’re ready to come back to our COVID safe live concerts or shielding at home as we live with this virus.

Whether you attend our socially distanced concerts at the Wollongong Town Hall and other venues or our digital season from your lounge room, we say thank you for backing our musicians and supporting their artistry through this difficult time.

We are extremely appreciative of all those who have; held onto their paid subscriptions until next year, purchased a digital subscription or a ticket to our returning season or donated to our ‘Isolation Strings’ fundraiser.

You have all played a vital part in keeping Steel City Strings going.

However, this difficult period is far from over.

It will be some time before we can return to full capacity concerts and bring ourselves into a more financially secure position as we were pre-pandemic.

We rely on your ongoing support for Steel City Strings to thrive.

Please do your best get along to our concert series at the end of the year and bring along an extra friend or family member, purchase a digital subscription, make a tax-deductible donation if you have the means or promote our concerts through your networks.

We’re doing all we can to keep our musicians and local music community engaged. It is vital that we value the arts at this time.

2021 is set to be a significant year for Steel City Strings and I look forward to communicating with you all in the coming months.

Again, thank you for your ongoing support. We couldn’t have done what we have in 2020 without you.

Warm regards,

Jeremy Boulton | Manager

Richard Gill AO

In Debussy's Sacred and Profane Dances of 1904 the orchestra was joined by harpist Paulina Smirnov whose scintillating playing created a wonderful and subtly-nuanced centrepiece for the concert.

A fascinating program of works from various musical periods... The orchestra played with a strong sense of ensemble, and brought an infectious verve to the Mozart.
